All through Lent, we have explored the questions that we bring to Jesus as well as the questions that God asks us. In Holy Week, we prepare to make the transition from the questioning of Lent, through the shadow of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, to the celebration of Easter. Join us on this last leg of the journey.
Palm Sunday – March 29
As a congregation, we will process from outside the church into the Sanctuary with palms.
Traditional worship service at 8:30 a.m.
Contemporary worship service at 11:00 a.m.
Maundy Thursday – April 2
“Do you understand what I’ve done for you?” In Jesus’ final night with his disciples he serves them a meal, washes their feet, and instructs them to go and do likewise. Do we understand this? Are we ready to go and serve as we have been served?
On Maundy Thursday, we gather at 7:00 p.m. to share Holy Communion. This is immediately followed by the Stripping of the Altar.
Good Friday – April 3
On Good Friday, we gather to hear The Passion of Jesus according to Matthew. We will hear the story, sing hymns, extinguish the light, and journey to the tomb where we will wait for the resurrection dawn.
Good Friday midday service at noon.
Good Friday evening service with the Lord of Life choir at 7:00 p.m.
Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 4
Meet at the church on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. and we’ll head over to the park to collect Easter eggs! We will also be raising money for God’s Global Barnyard (click here to learn more). Make it a fun family evening and stay for the family-friendly Easter Vigil dinner celebration at 5 p.m. immediately after the egg hunt.
Bring candy donations for the Easter egg hunt to the church office by Thursday, April 2.
Easter Vigil Dinner Church – Saturday, April 4 (RSVP by April 1)
As we wait for the promise of Easter to be fulfilled, we gather to hear stories of God’s people and be reminded of how God has always been working to restore humanity. This celebratory gathering sets the table for us to welcome the resurrected Jesus on Easter morning! There is no charge for the vigil dinner. A free-will thanks offering will support the Youth Group’s summer mission trip to Puerto Rico.
