At Lord of Life, we want to give every teenager the opportunity to explore their faith in a safe and loving environment. We do this through a variety of group settings for all ages and by bringing in trusted adult mentors from our congregation to work directly with our youth. All our adult mentors are background-checked and trained in Lord of Life’s Safe Sanctuary policy. For information specific to your teenager and the programming available for them, please contact the Director of Teen Faith Formation.
7th and 8th Graders
Confirmation Class – Sundays at 9:45 a.m. upstairs in room 24
7th and 8th grade students participate in Confirmation classes from September through May each school year. This 2-year curriculum gives an overview of the Lutheran view of God’s work in the world by exploring the Bible and the stories that bring our faith to life.
For many of our students, Confirmation is an opportunity for them to wrestle with their faith and claim the baptismal promises that were made on their behalf when they were an infant as their own. For others, this is an introduction to faith and a chance to think about how God has been at work in their life. Wherever our students are, our facilitators and adult mentors work to make sure that every student knows the love that God has for them and the opportunities that exist to take ownership of their faith.
Mini-Mission Trip
Every summer, rising 7th and 8th graders join in a mini-mission trip where they start to get a taste of what it means to serve in our community. They stay at the church with adult leaders and spend several days volunteering at a variety of organizations throughout the greater Houston community. This is a great way for students who are newer to the program to connect with peers and leaders alike!
High School Students
Youth Group – Sundays, 5–7 p.m. upstairs in room 25
As students move through their high school years, we provide them time to gather with their peers and adult mentors, have fun together away from any of the stress of school, and ask big questions about faith, God’s love for them, and what it means for their life. We accomplish these goals through Bible studies that thrive on discussion and questions, game and fellowship time that provides student and chance for fun, and building relationships with our adult mentors who walk with our students through it all.

Mission Trip
Every summer, rising 9th graders through graduated seniors head out on a week-long mission trip to serve beyond the Houston community. They have traveled to New Orleans, Nashville, Alaska, and more! These trips bring the students together for intentional service, worship, and Bible study, and the opportunity to build peer relationships that can sustain them through high school and beyond.
In 2026, our mission trip is heading to Puerto Rico. This trip is planned for June 13–19, 2026. We will be serving at an ELCA church and school in San Juan, worshiping with their community, and yes, exploring the island, too. We’re so excited for this adventure and thankful for our church family for making it possible. Fundraising for our mission trip starts early and, among other things, will include selling “stock” to supporters who receive special thanks from us during the trip and afterward in the form of postcards, social media shout-outs, and thank-you videos. Please contact the Director of Teen Faith Formation if you are interested in contributing or have fundraising suggestions.
