Worship

Christian worship is the foundation of all our ministries. More than anywhere else, worship is where we embody our mission to seek and welcome all to connect, celebrate, and serve in God’s love, so that all can have life through the love of Christ.

At Lord of Life, we gather in-person and online to worship every Sunday and on special occasions throughout the year. We have two Sunday services: a traditional liturgical service at 8:30 a.m. and an informal contemporary service at 11:00 a.m. At both services, people come as they are. We have no dress code or special requirements, and children are always welcome. Like other ELCA congregations, we offer an open communion—anyone who wants to can come forward—because we believe the communion table is God’s table, not ours.

How Can You Serve?

There are many ways to contribute to worship preparation and leadership at Lord of Life.

Music

The Lord of Life Choir provides through music for the 8:30 a.m. worship service on most Sundays and on special occasions throughout the year. In addition, The Bells of Life handbell choir, the Lord of Life Family Orchestra, and the Lord of Life Big Band regularly lead in worship through music throughout the year. Children’s and youth choirs also lead in worship on special occasions.

Preparing Our Space

The Lord of Life Liturgical Arts Team prepares the sanctuary for worship each week in way that suits the season and planned activities. The worship décor reflects the tradition and mood of the church season, from somber anticipation in Advent and Lent to joyful celebration at Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost. Members of this team seek to engage the senses of the congregation and draw them in to reflect on the meaning of the season using banners, fabric, art, flowers, and lighting. The team works together to brainstorm and implement ideas to enhance the worship experience. If you have a passion for design or decorating or are interested in contributing to this team, please contact the church office and let us know!
