Contemporary Worship – Fifth Sunday of Lent

“Why weren’t you here?” Mary and Martha ask of Jesus the question that echoed through the generations of faithful people who have watched their loved ones die, “Why weren’t you here?” This is a beautiful reminder for us that we can come to God with these questions and God will hold them for us. We can be angry. We can ask where God was? We can tell God that our loved one should not have died! We can do all of this and God will hold it and give us all the time we need. Then, when we are ready, God will again roll the stone away and reveal the new life that lies within.
Our theme for Lent this year is QUESTIONS – A Lenten Journey of Inquiry. This Lent, we are stepping into the heart of the conversation. On Sunday mornings, we will explore the deep, rattling questions we bring to Jesus—the ones about suffering, purpose, and the mysteries of life. On Wednesday nights, the tables will turn as we sit in the “hot seat” to ponder the soul-searching questions God asks us. Whether you are seeking answers or learning to live with the questions, there is a seat at the table for you.
Join us in the Sanctuary for traditional, liturgical worship. This service will be live streamed on our website and on Facebook Live. The sermon, children’s sermon, and communion are part of every Sunday worship. Hymnals and Bibles are available beneath the pews for any who wish to use them in addition to the sanctuary video screens. We also have hearing assistance devices available which can be accessed by asking an usher. Come as you are—there’s no dress code!
